This is a unique introduction to Jainism. The articles, mostly written by Jains living in the USA are drawn from the Jain Study Circular, a highly-regarded Jain publication in America. The articles are easy to read, but that does not mean that the book is intended for children only. The articles are written in a simple language, but they are written by experts. Although primarily written for Jains, non-Jains would also enjoy reading them. I would recommend all Jains living overseas to have a copy of this excellent book.

Both books, 'Studies In Jainism: Primer and Reader 2', present many aspects of the Jain religion in intelligible style. In particular, the dialogues and stories included in these books have made the subject matter interesting. The concepts have been presented in logical style and with a modern perspective. This scholarly endeavor (undertaken by Jain Study Circle) is admirable. The original sutras and couplets quoted from the scriptures will greatly enhance the knowledge of readers. This is a unique feature adopted in editing. The pictures and photographs included in the books are attractive and clearly illustrate the concepts.
It would be worthwhile to adopt the entire set (including 'Studies In Jainism: Reader 1) for Jain studies even in India.

(The Jain Study Circle) has done valuable work in the direction of retaining and promoting the Jain (Indian) culture and religion in the West through these books. It is the utmost need of the day. This will help American born Jain youngsters to preserve their identity proudly among the other culture and religion.

I got an opportunity to read 'Studies In Jainism: Reader 1' which I found most educating, interesting. Important subjects are explained in accordance with the present scientific era. This book has clarified some doubts. I feel that this book will be useful to understand Jainism by Jains and others too. If this book is published in Gujarati and Hindi, it will be helpful to people in India.
